Loren "Lo" Woods brings it on home with "Guitar For Crazy People." He attacks his instrument with workmanlike precision. Having the knowledge of an instrument's capabilities is essential, and Lo has got it down. If it's coming at you with both barrels, or turned down a few notches, the sound on this instrumental rock extravaganza will impress. I feel Lo's ability to show the gentleness and ferocity of the guitar in a song is proof of his diversity as a technician and artist. He does it all with extreme passion and thoroughness making each tune a special experience for the listener. I find it amazing how the artist is able to make the guitar scream then whisper sweet nothings in your ear within minutes inside one song. The are some really nice, quick changes in each song. I can appreciate the thought and deliberation that went into all of this work. As good as any of his contemporaries, Lo Woods shows that he really can rock with the best of them on this recording. If this is guitar for crazy people, then I am certifiable! I simply love music like this. I absorb it in it's entirety with all the joy of a toddler. One's music is an extension of self. Lo Woods must be an interesting fellow.
People like Woods make the information super highway one hell of a ride. This a great example of what kind of talent awaits your discovery in the Independent music world. You don't have to be a household name to attain recognition at your chosen craft. My father once told me the mark of true craftsmen is one that cleans up after himself once the job is done. Lo Woods gets the job done and leaves nothing behind. He is a superb craftsmen.
Bottom line-This is some killer fret
work. Most recently Lo was voted one of the top gunslingers on MP3.com by his
growing legion of admirers. Listen and see why. -MuzikMan/March 03, 2000
